CONFERENCE INFORMATION

The Skamania County Sheriff's Office and Wind River Search and Rescue would like to welcome you to the 2002 Washington State SAR Conference.

Camping

The conference site this year offers acres of camping space for self contained RV units and tents. Individual SAR group sites can be established as can County group areas.

Pre-Conference

The Pre-conference courses offered by the Washington State Department of Emergency Management will begin on Monday May 13, and conclude Friday May 17, 2002.

SAR Conference

The regular conference will begin at 12:00PM Friday May 17, 2002 and will conclude by 4:00p.m. on Sunday May 19, 2002.

Conference Training

We plan on providing many different classes to choose from. K-9, Ground Searching, ATV’s, Helicopters, and Dive Rescue are examples of some of the training to be offered.

SAR Awards

An awards ceremony will take place on Saturday evening after training. SAR groups are asked to bring and display their SAR banner or unit flag during the conference. Awards will be presented to groups meeting the criteria set forth by the judges. Additional awards will be presented.

SAR Olympics

This annual competition between teams will be a highlight of the Saturday evening entertainment. Any Unit or County wishing to participate will be given an opportunity to compete for recognition.

Entertainment

Entertainment will be provided Saturday evening by Volunteers. If you have a special talent let us know.

We invite you to take advantage of this once a year opportunity to meet with the many disciplines of Search and Rescue and share ideas and stories. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
